SINGLE RELEASE FRIDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2020:
VARGEN SHARES CHRISTMAS DUET "TO STOCKHOLM FROM L.A." WITH ANNA VILD
“Love / Leave – 11 Songs of Bob Dylan” was praised by the international Indie press earlier this year. Now the folk singer shares “To Stockholm From L.A.”, a collaboration with singer-songwriter Anna Vild.
-We thought of it as both a song about two longing lovers divided by the pond and as a duet between the mythic North and the City of Angels, says Reine Johansson, the man behind the stage and recording name Vargen. Alfred Lord Tennyson’s classic poem “Ring out, wild bells” inspired us to the line “I call out to the wild skies”, and that was pretty much a key to the lyrics. Now of course, the black cloud of the pandemic has added a somewhat another dimension to the song, says Vargen.

VARGEN RELEASES NEW ALBUM 'LOVE / LEAVE - 11 SONGS OF BOB DYLAN'
VINYL / CD RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON JUNE 12
Vargen (translates as ‘The Wolf’) is the stage and recording name of Swedish singer-songwriter Reine Johansson. In the wake of the international recognition of his and fellow singer Mia Rosengren’s translations on 'Tänk inte efter (Don’t Think Twice-Bob Dylan in Swedish)', Vargen’s recorded new vocals in English to all nine tracks from that album. The band has also recorded two new songs, singles 'One Too Many Mornings' and 'Abandoned Love'. 'Love / Leave - 11 Songs of Bob Dylan' is available worldwide on vinyl and CD since Friday June 12.
- We aimed for a timeless sound on Bob Dylan’s timeless songs, says Vargen. Dylan has written great lyrics on almost every topic there is. To hold the album together conceptually we focused on the universal themes love, loss, leaving and longing.
Musically, the songs vary between americana, country and rock, with essential contributions by Dan Kristensen on guitar, lap steel and dobro. The album is produced by Andreas Alm at Teknikcirkus Studio in Skällinge.
Vargen hopes to promote the album with a vinyl store tour in Scandinavia, Germany and UK as soon as the pandemic's over.
Genre: Rock/Americana/Country
